Grill Table

Atlanta’s Harrison Bain made furniture as a hobby throughout his college years and career in construction management.

With a hands-on passion for creating and building, Bain took on small projects for family and friends. When a construction client requested custom vanity tops for an office development, Bain volunteered to build them as a side gig.

The project made him realize where his heart was – and his career should go.

The craftsman & background: Bain grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in construction management. He spent seven years as a project manager in the commercial construction industry, working on new buildings, small renovations, and large historic renovations — most notably, Ponce City Market.

The company: Atlanta-based Bain Made Studio designs and builds custom furniture that is classic and contemporary for both residential and commercial clients. Projects include conference tables, bar tops, restaurant tables, bathroom vanities, dining tables and coffee tables. The company is a member of B-10 Union, an Atlanta-based furniture collective.

What’s popular: Big Green Egg grill table ($1,000 to $2,000, depending on size, wood, finish and features); dog bowl stand ($80); plus coffee, dining and conference tables ($600 to $3,000 and up).

Other favorites: Cutting boards ($80) and planter boxes ($80 to $250).

What’s next: A showroom next to the shop on Memorial Drive in east Atlanta.
