For jams, preserves, relishes and condiments made the old-school way, head for the Preserving Place.

Founded by Martha McMillan, the new shop and teaching kitchen in Atlanta’s West Provisions District, makes small-batch, artisanal food in jars.

So far, buyers have snapped up nine-ounce jars of Hot Peach & Ginger Jam and Lemon Tomato Jam, plus 12-ounce jars of Sweet Onion Confit.

Prices range for $11 to $16. Available at 1170 Howell Mill Road, Suite, 10b (www.presevingplace.com)

P.S. The Preserving Place’s Sweet Onion Confit (seen below) won at the Flavor of Georgia this month (March 2014). It took home the prize as best Salsa/Chutney/Condiment. Executive chef Virginia Willis created the recipe.
