poster boys

January 23, 2012

Fans of the Dave Matthews Band and other rock bands are familiar with Atlanta-based Methane Studios, which designs and produces posters with a vintage feel in their East Point studio.

In 1998, the company got its start when Mark McDevitt and Robert Lee, who met in Ohio, began to produce silk screen posters for the Echo Lounge, an east Atlanta club.

Since then, the award-winning, two-man team has created not only band and concert posters, but clever and memorable package designs and logos for clients such as The Cartoon Network, Honda, HBO, Sony and Liberty Mutual.

Now, the Atlanta artists are branching out to non-gig posters and greeting cards.

But it is their band posters that get a music fan’s attention. They remind you of the band’s music and the concert you attended – or missed.

Methane’s poster boys vary the poster style and feel to the band and its music.

Dave Matthews Band posters are top sellers, but the studio has other posters you might like. A four-color poster  for a Sufjan Stevens concert at The Tabernacle in Atlanta in 2010  measures 18 inches by 24 inches. The poster (below, right) is $50. The others will cost $20 to $25.
