beach chic

October 18, 2011

Bring home a bit of the beach with unique lighting from Lowcountry Originals in Bluffton, SC.

Two years ago, childhood friends Becky Brackett and Libby Boyden started the company, which uses oyster shells, driftwood, marsh reeds and reclaimed metals in its hand-made lighting fixtures.

The made-to-order collection includes chandeliers, pendants and sconces. Prices range from $1,000 to $7,000.

For a dramatic look, consider the Empire chandelier (below), made with shell, steel and copper wire. Priced at $5,000, it is 32 inches wide by 42 inches.
