uncommon scents

July 26, 2011

For many, a candle is the perfect go-to gift for the right person. Started in 2004 by Julia Leaphart, the Georgia-based Himalayan Trading Post offers a variety of lovely containers and subtle candle scents.

Some of the company’s hand-poured, soy candles come in distressed tins that have a shabby chic look. Others come in rustic wood and embossed mercury glass tumblers.

The Fleur de Lys collection (above), with its variety of embossed tumbler colors and fresh fragrances, is a year-round best seller. The tumbler ($14 and up) is filled with eight ounces of soy wax and comes in popular scents, such as wild rose and oak.

The new Powder Box candle (below) is a must-have for many. The three-wick, soy-wax candle ($22) comes in an old-fashioned powder box with an engraved metal lid. It is available in five fragrances, including citrus pear and peony.

Candles are available at and around the country.

In the Atlanta area, check Festivity at The Forum, 5145 Peachtree Parkway in Norcross and Redefined Home Boutique, 887 Howell Mill Road, Suite 200, Atlanta.
